Previously known as The Paradise Project, Liverpool 1 opened in three phases with the main retail scheme opening on the 29 May 2008.
This radical City centre redevelopment covers 42 acres and is the largest of its type since post-war reconstruction of Europe.
Our Contribution
Commissioned to design, manufacture, install and maintain 8 information POD’s our client, The Grosvenor Group, were very keen to push the boundaries of what could be achieved with outdoor interactive and digital signage installations.
The result of this design challenge was an information POD that had two 57” sunlight readable LCD screens, two 32” interactive LCD touch screens, WiFi router as part of the scheme-wide network, PA sound system, two intercom information points and programmable colour changing LED illumination.
The environment was equally challenging as the POD’s are accessible by the public 24 / 7 / 365 in exposed and unprotected locations. Add to this the fact that Liverpool is essentially by the sea and the very high levels of salt air and associated corrosion problems that this brings, the choice of 316 Stainless Steel as the main material was required if the PODs were to survive these extremes.
